About AKFIN

History and Mission
AKFIN was established under the direction of the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC) to consolidate, manage and dispense information related to Alaska's commercial fisheries. AKFIN was founded in response to an increased need for detailed and organized information about Alaska's commercial fishing industry. The growing number of commercial, not for profit and governmental programs associated with commercial fisheries in Alaska created a clear need for consolidated information and served as the driving force behind developing our organization.

What We Do
AKFIN provides complex data sets to fisheries analysts and economists. We consolidate, manage and disperse a variety of information essential to managing Alaska's commercial fisheries. We ensure analysts and economists receive the unbiased, consolidated information they need to understand and effectively manage Alaska’s commercial fisheries.
